I called up my Relationship Manager (RM) some time last year to request for a reduction in the merchant charges. She told me that she would assist me to find the person in charge. However, she did not revert to me after that. Hence, I got the contact of the person in charge from Melvin and decided to call him myself.
I heard from Melvin that this banker is a bit stuck up. I was a little afraid at first and called him very politely, requesting for a reduction in the rates. This banker, G, was so pretentious and talked very politely to me too. G agreed that he'll help us reduce the rates as I told him the last revision was done in year 2001.
Few days later, G called and told me that he'll email me the details. I waited for a week but have yet to receive his email. Therefore, I wrote him an email on Saturday and in the email, I wrote:
"Dear G
May I check with you on the status of my enquiry on the reduction of the rates which was about a week ago? I've been expecting your email which you said you would send to me.
Would you update me on the status please? Our merchant code is xxxxxxx."
This morning, I received his email which said:
"Hi Chui Ping
Sorry for not getting back to you. I did call few times at your desk but could not reach you.
We're happy to revise the rate to xx% for the terminal facilities.
Give me a call if you have any queries and I'll be very pleased to assist you."
After reading this, I felt that he was pushing the blame to me! He was the one who called me in the first place, telling me that he would send me an email. Even if he couldn't get me at my desk, which I doubt so as I'm in the office most of the time, he could have emailed me, which was what he told me he would earlier on! What kind of attitude is this? To think this bank is Singapore's longest established local bank, yet I get this kind of service from them. I'm the client, he should know how to word his email! Is this the way a banker should treat a female client? Not gentleman at all!
I replied his email with:
"Dear G
Thanks for your email...."
I wanted to add on "I couldn't reach you at your desk too, hence this email..." but Melvin told me to save my breath with this kind of person. However, I'm just pissed with his damn bloody poor attitude! I replied his email and cc it to my RM and also Jason and explained to him the whole story. Luckily Jason sided with me and commented that some bankers forever need people to chase after them. He even gave me the namecard of RM's boss and told me to cc to him if needed. =D
I'm glad Jason is understanding in this issue =D
